Chair of the Joint Committee on Economic Reforms and Development of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina Ermina Salkičević-Dizdarević met with UNDP evaluators on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Chair of the Joint Committee on Economic Reforms and Development of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PABiH), Ermina Salkičević-Dizdarević, held a meeting today with representatives of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Charlemagne Gomez and Nina Karađinović, who are conducting an evaluation of the programme “Framework for the Implementation of Sustainable Development Goals in BiH as a Foundation for Sustainable and Inclusive Growth” (SDG2BiH).
The main topic of the meeting was the assessment of the results achieved so far and the challenges in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at all levels of government in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Chair of the Joint Committee Salkičević-Dizdarević underlined the key role of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH in monitoring and promoting the implementation of the SDGs, and emphasised the commitment of the Joint Committee to creating a better legislative framework and strengthening cooperation with the executive authorities and international partners.
The UNDP representatives commended the engagement of the Joint Committee on Economic Reforms and Development of PABiH, stressing the importance of continuous political support for the successful achievement of the SDGs, particularly in the areas of economic reform, the green agenda, environmental protection and social inclusion.
The meeting concluded with a mutual desire to continue constructive cooperation with the aim of more effectively integrating the SDGs into all future strategies and policies of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In April 2021, the Council of Ministers of BiH adopted the “Framework for the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals in BiH”, a document defining the vision for 2030, priorities for inclusive and sustainable growth, and serving as a platform for cooperation and partnership. (End)
