Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dr. Denis Zvizdić, held a meeting with the Head of the ICMP Western Balkans Program

The Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PABiH), Dr. Denis Zvizdić, held a meeting today with the Head of the Western Balkans Program of the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP), Samira Krehić. The meeting was organized with the aim of exchanging views on the ongoing challenges in the process of searching for missing persons, as well as on the role of BiH institutions in preserving this crucial humanitarian process.

Particular focus during the discussion was placed on the need to ratify the Financing Agreement for the Annual Action Plan for Bosnia and Herzegovina for 2024, which is being implemented through the European Union’s Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA 2024).

It was noted that the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PABiH) received the matter related to the ratification of the Agreement from the Presidency of BiH only on July 10 of this year, and that it will, due to its importance, be included on the agenda of the next urgent or regular session of the House of Representatives.

It was concluded that it is essential for all competent authorities, especially the Ministry of Finance and Treasury of BiH—which is responsible for overseeing the ratification process—to intensify cooperation with the PABiH in order to finalize the process as soon as possible.

The ICMP once again expressed its readiness to continue providing expert and technical support to BiH institutions in addressing the issue of missing persons, and welcomed the continued commitment of the PABiH House of Representatives to this important matter. (Press release from the Office of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr. Denis Zvizdić)
