Deputy Head of the PA BiH Delegation to the PA Union for the Mediterranean, Rejhana Dervišević, addressed the 18th PA UfM plenary session in Malaga

Member of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PA BiH) and Deputy Head of the PA BiH Delegation in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean (PA UfM) Rejhana Dervišević addressed the participants of the 18th plenary session which is being held in Malaga under the Spanish presidency.
Speaking about the issue and challenges of migration in the Mediterranean region, which is the central theme of the PA UfM plenary session in Malaga, Dervišević assessed that, by providing refuge to those fleeing conflicts, persecution or natural disasters, societies show commitment to human rights and global solidarity.
"When migrations are effectively managed, they are not only a driver of economic, social and cultural prosperity, but also proof of openness, inclusion and common human progress," said Dervišević.
According to her, the moral obligation of all countries in the Mediterranean region, faced with the challenge of the influx of migrants, is to build peace, seek political solutions instead of conflict, encourage dialogue between others and different people and provide quality education. Without such an approach, legal, just societies that accept diversity and protect human rights cannot be created, said Dervišević in her address at the PAUfM plenary session in Malaga.
In addition to the issue of migration, the participants of the PA UfM plenary session, also discussed climate change, youth employment, strengthening gender equality and other challenges facing the Mediterranean region. (end)
