Members of the Delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the NATO PA Participating in the NATO PA Spring Session in Dayton

The Chair of the Delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PABiH) to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly (NATO PA), Kemal Ademović, together with Deputy Chairs Marina Pendeš and Obren Petrović, are actively participating in the NATO PA Spring Session, currently being held in Dayton, United States.
The first day of the Spring Session began with meetings of three committees: the Committee on Democracy and Security, the Defence and Security Committee, and the Economics and Security Committee. Discussions focused on key security and strategic challenges of the modern era, including the future of security in Ukraine, the evolution of global terrorist threats, the role of women in peacebuilding, deterrence along NATO’s eastern flank, and cooperation with partners in the Indo-Pacific region. Further topics included the challenges facing the defence industry within a rapidly changing strategic environment, as well as geoeconomic fragmentation and its impact on transatlantic relations and the Black Sea region.
Throughout the day, the PABiH Delegation also attended panels held as part of the public forum “Dayton Dialogue: Conversations on Peace and Security in the Balkans.” The theme of the day was “Dayton Today: The Present and Future of the Balkans”, explored through two panel discussions. The first panel, “Economic Recovery and Development: Post-Dayton Progress and Future Challenges”, was moderated by the Director of the Congressional Research Service, Karen Donfried. Speakers included former Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia Mate Granić, current Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia Gordan Grlić Radman, U.S. Ambassador to North Macedonia Angela Aggeler, Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia to the United States Iztok Mirošič, French Ambassador and Special Envoy for the Western Balkans René Troccaz, and former Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the EU and NATO Vitomir Miles Raguž.
The second panel, titled “Next Steps After Dayton? The Path Towards Constitutional Reform in Bosnia and Herzegovina”, was moderated by Dr Azeem Ibrahim Obe, Senior Director at the New Lines Institute. The panellists included former U.S. Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Michael Murphy, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Croatia Dr Miomir Žužul, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Washington Ensar Eminović, and Dr Jasmin Mujanović, Senior Non-Resident Fellow at the New Lines Institute’s Western Balkans Centre.
