Delegation of PABiH Participates in Marrakesh at the 3rd Parliamentary-Economic Forum of PAM for the Euro-Mediterranean and Gulf Region

The Chair of the Delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PABiH) to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM), Rejhana Dervišević, the Deputy Chair of the Delegation, Vlatko Glavaš, and the Chair of the Joint Committee for Economic Reforms and Development of PABiH, Ermina Salkičević-Dizdarević, are participating in the 3rd Parliamentary-Economic Forum of PAM for the Euro-Mediterranean and Gulf Region, which is being held in Marrakesh (Kingdom of Morocco).
The Forum, jointly organized by the House of Councillors of the Parliament of the Kingdom of Morocco and PAM, represents an international platform for parliamentarians and partner institutions of PAM aimed at exchanging opinions and viewpoints with economic and political leaders from the public and private sectors, as well as with the academic community and representatives of civil society, on essential and current economic and environmental issues in the Euro-Mediterranean and Gulf region of PAM.
The Forum is focused on a series of key economic and security challenges, including recent developments in global trade, as well as issues of energy, food security, and water security.
In her address to the Forum participants, the Chair of the PABiH Delegation to PAM, Rejhana Dervišević, highlighted the importance of inter-parliamentary and interstate cooperation and communication among PAM member states, which, she stated, can help avoid and resolve problems and conflicts, as well as build trust and better relations in the region.
According to Dervišević's assessment, we live in a world of increased uncertainty, new crises, and antagonisms, deprived of serious, alternative visions based on responsibility for the common good.
"Across the world, we see communities divided by growing hate speech, discrimination, extremism, and human rights violations. Today, more than ever, we are becoming aware of the role and significance of interaction between peoples and states," said Dervišević, adding that a healthy level of economic interaction would represent the foundation for stability in the Euro-Mediterranean and Gulf region.
Emphasizing that economic cooperation in the region would undoubtedly be strengthened by comprehensive regional agreements and projects, as well as coordinated activities and financial support for the countries of the region, Dervišević underscored that regional cooperation and integration are key to mitigating geopolitical fragmentation and creating shared prosperity.
"Targeted investments in underdeveloped regions ensure balanced growth, reduce inequality, and unlock untapped economic potential. Investments in regional transport, digital connectivity, and energy systems contribute to strengthening the region's links with other markets, businesses, and services," conveyed Dervišević.
Warning of the fact that in today's world and region, civilians face hunger, disappearance, and death, Dervišević stated that our position in society or the roles we hold do not diminish our responsibility to increase opportunities for establishing peace, justice, security, and economic development, and called on fellow parliamentarians to make maximum contributions to creating successful societies with economic prospects.
During the two-day Forum in Marrakesh, participants will also discuss the impact of artificial intelligence on the labour market and regulatory issues, as well as the role of parliaments in these areas. (End)
