Delegate to the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PABiH) Želimir Nešković and Member of the House of Representatives of PABiH Branislav Borenović participated as members of the Green Club of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the concluding event of the project "Green Parliamentary Groups and Decarbonisation Process in the Western Balkans". The event was organised by the Council of Europe's School of Political Studies and the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) in Podgorica.

This project, implemented over several years in Western Balkan countries, aimed to build the capacity of green parliamentary groups in the region to promote and implement the European Union's energy and transport agenda, as well as to strengthen parliamentarians' capacity for policymaking in green agenda areas and urban mobility.

In his address during the panel on capacity development of green parliamentary groups in Southeast Europe for EU-aligned energy and transport goals, Delegate Nešković, in his capacity as Vice President of the Green Club of Bosnia and Herzegovina, spoke about the Club's activities over the past year and announced plans for the coming period. Emphasising that the Green Club of BiH has organised numerous important events in Bosnia and Herzegovina during this period, Nešković highlighted that energy efficiency, environmental protection and urban mobility will remain focal policies for the Club, with the aim of translating these policies into laws that can protect our nature. Nešković stated that with the conclusion of this project, the Green Club of BiH will not cease its activities in implementing green policies, improving environmental protection, urban mobility and transport. On the contrary, he added that in the coming months, in cooperation with green clubs of parliamentarians from the region, activities will be intensified to strengthen economic capacities through the development of the transport system in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in correlation with the green policies already planned and implemented by the Green Club of BiH.

Member of Parliament Branislav Borenović spoke during the panel dedicated to the energy transition process in the Western Balkans in light of new geopolitical circumstances. Borenović emphasised the importance of regional cooperation among green parliamentary groups in Western Balkan countries. He concluded that only through joint activities and projects showcasing positive examples of green policies can citizens' awareness about environmental protection be raised, along with significantly better utilisation of energy potentials, in accordance with EU standards which all countries in the region aspire to meet.

Nešković and Borenović used their participation in this event to hold numerous meetings with parliamentarians from regional countries, where in addition to green agenda issues, they discussed political matters of regional importance. (End)
