The meeting of members of the Collegium of the Houses of the Parliamentary Assembly with a delegation from the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey
Good political relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and the Republic of Turkey should be strengthened with strong economic co-operation, increasing trade between the two countries and increasing the presence of Turkish investors in BiH. Strengthening economic ties should be the focus of relations between the two countries in the future, as good political relations and a better economic relationship will follow, determined the members of Collegium of the Houses of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH during a joint meeting with a delegation from the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Grand National Assembly of the Republic Turkey led by Volkan Bozkin.
During the talks between the two delegations, they noted that this year it will be necessary to organize a meeting of the Mixed Economic Committee of Turkey and the Business Council of BiH to intensify talks and realize specific projects.
As the members of Parliamentary Assembly said, 2012 should be a European year for BiH, but along with achieving political objectives, special attention will be devoted to developing the economy and attracting foreign investment. Within this framework, BiH wants strong economic connections with Turkey, improving relations and co-operation at all levels.
According to the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Volkan Bozkina, considering the extremely important position of BiH for foreign policy, Turkey will continue to provide full support for its Euro-Atlantic path and, as a member of NATO, Turkey will give its full support for our country to enter NATO.
“At the same time, because of all the potential that Bosnia and Herzegovina has, we will make extra efforts to revive economic relations, and we believe that intensive meetings of businessmen, combined with defined goals, will result in concrete co-operation, and efforts to double the trade between Bosnia and Turkey,” concluded Bozkin.
During the meeting, the need for intensification of meetings between the leadership and working bodies of the parliaments of two countries was pointed out, and all expressed the hope that it will be regular in the future. (End)
