At a meeting of the Committee on the Honoring of Obligations and Commitment by Member States of the Council of Europe, a report on compliance with the obligations and commitments of Bosnia and Herzegovina was presented

Milica Marković and Saša Magazinović, members of the permanent delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe, participated in the today’s meeting of the Committee on the Honoring of Obligations and Commitment by Member States of the Council of Europe in Paris, participated, at which a report on compliance with the obligations and commitments of Bosnia and Herzegovina was presented.

In the report, presented by Karin S. Woldseth, a positive assessment was given to the current success of Bosnia and Herzegovina in fulfilling obligations towards the EU accession, with significant stress on the results achieved since January 2012. Woldseth emphasized the very positive and progressive adoption of laws which are important for the EU candidate status, and praised the intense negotiations of the leaders from the six political parties that play an important role in creating other laws vitally for the international position of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In the report, it was concluded that the effects thus far achieved in Bosnia and Herzegovina are credible, and that Bosnia and Herzegovina will not be discussed by the urgent procedure in the session of the Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe in April. It is announced that 15 March, 2012 will not be considered an essential date for examining certain sanctions toward Bosnia and Herzegovina, regardless of the results of reforms which are important for the European path of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

It was suggested that the report on BiH be take into consideration at the session of the PACE in June, as it is expected that Bosnia and Herzegovina will fulfill its remaining obligations on the path toward the EU, particularly the implementation of the decision of the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg in the “Sejdic and Finci v. Bosnia and Herzegovina” case. Extensive activities are supported with the aim of implementing the decision, in hopes that an agreement on its implementation will be achieved as soon as possible.
