The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Dr. Božo Ljubić spoke with the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Bosnia and Herzegovina

Today, the first Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina received the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany Ulrike Maria Knotz.

Dr. Ljubić informed Ambassador Knotz about the current issues in Bosnia and Herzegovina. As one of the most important issues Dr. Ljubić elaborated on the process of the implementation of the decision of the European Court of Human Rights in the “Sejdić and Finci against BiH” case. He expressed optimism that in the near future it will be possible to reach an adequate solution through bilateral talks between the leaders of the political parties and with a new meeting of the leaders of the six political parties. The new solution will be suggested to the responsible parliamentary commission, and consequently will be defined in parliamentary procedure and implemented through constitutional changes. Dr. Ljubić emphasized that this process requires the substantial implementation of the decision which would eliminate discriminatory articles from the BiH Constitution and guarantee equal rights for the constituent peoples, national minorities, as well as to all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He emphasized the existence of a positive atmosphere in Bosnia and Herzegovina after the establishment of the Council of Ministers and enforcement of some important laws. In addition, he stressed that this positive climate should be used for the process of reform with the aim of BiH stability and its accelerated path toward NATO and European Union.
During the meeting they discussed the situation in the BiH Federation. Dr. Ljubić stressed the dissatisfaction of the Croats with the existing Federal government and the need for its restructuring. He emphasized that Croat representatives are ready to initiate and participate in talks on reforms in the Federation in terms of the entity’s rationalization and functionality; at the same time strengthening the Croat position and bringing them in line with the other two constitutive peoples, reported the office of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
