The guests announced today that the next report on Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) will be more in-depth and will not only deal with the implementation of the ruling in the Sejdić-Finci case, but also with the fulfillment of the democratic obligations still facing BiH.
During the discussion, members of the Monitoring Team welcomed the progress that has been made over the past few months, from the establishment of the Council of Ministers to the adoption of key laws such as the Law on the Population Census and the Law on State Aid. Whilst assessment of the current political climate in BiH is significantly more optimistic than before, once again the obligation to implement the ruling in the Sejdić-Finci case against BiH was underlined, as was the fulfillment of other post-accession conditions that our country has as a member of the Council of Europe and the replenishment of the bodies of this international organization by experts from BiH.
At the meeting today, the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH was represented by Dr. Milorad Živković, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr. Božo Ljubić and Dr. Denis Bećirović, the Deputy Speakers of the House of Representatives, Ognjen Tadić, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples, and Borjana Krišto, the Chair of the Caucus of the delegates of the Croat People in the House of Peoples. They told guests of their belief that at the end of this month, a quality solution will be found which will be based on the ruling in the Sejdić-Finci case providing a democratic choice for future members of the BiH Presidency, the Houses of the Peoples of the State and the Federation Parliament. At the same time, as was pointed out today, it the appointment of the Head of the delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe could finally be resolved.
