Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of the PA BiH Dr. Denis Zvizdić attends the Third Parliamentary Summit of the Crimean Platform

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of the PA BiH Dr. Denis Zvizdić attends the Third Parliamentary Summit of the Crimean Platform in Riga, where he gave a presentation on the importance of supporting the just struggle of the Ukrainian people and the importance of preserving the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine.

In his address, Zvizdić conveyed a few messages to the international community and the Ukrainian people, recalling the experiences of Bosnia and Herzegovina and calling for solidarity and decisive steps.

"The international community must increase military, economic and any other aid to Ukraine. Without strong and continuous support, the worst-case scenario follows. For years, the world closed its eyes to the terrible crimes in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which culminated in the genocide in Srebrenica. Today, in 2024, we are witnessing mass crimes and violations of international law in Ukraine, Gaza, and many other parts of the world," Zvizdić pointed out in his address.

He also said that it is necessary to urgently establish an international court to prosecute all war crimes committed in Ukraine.

"As was the case with the court in The Hague for the former Yugoslavia, it is important that international justice acts and clearly determines who are war criminals and who are defenders of freedom and territorial integrity," added Zvizdić in his speech.

In the third message he addressed to the participants of the Crimean Platform, Zvizdić said:

"We must return to a rules-based international order and sanction anyone who violates those rules. Sanctions are a powerful tool for maintaining global order, and disobeying the rules leads to anarchy. Russian aggression against Ukraine did not start in 2022, but in 2014 with the annexation of Crimea. At that time, the international community did not understand that yielding to the aggressor leads to further escalation," Zvizdić stressed.

In the final part of the presentation, Zvizdić pointed out:

"There will be no peace in Europe without a peaceful and stable Ukraine as a member of the European Union and NATO, just as there is no peace without a stable Western Balkans in the European community. Bosnia and Herzegovina's full membership in NATO and the EU is also crucial for the long-term stability of Europe."

Zvizdić congratulated the hosts on the organization of the Third Parliamentary Summit of the Crimean Platform and expressed hope that these messages will encourage the international community to take decisive action.

The third parliamentary summit in Riga is attended by representatives of over forty countries and representatives of the international community. (Statement from the Office of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Dr. Denis Zvizdić)
