Chair of the Committee on Foreign and Trade Policy, Customs, Transport, and Communications of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Safet Softić, is participating in the Regional Meeting of Parliamentarians on Food and Agriculture in Tirana

Chair of the Committee on Foreign and Trade Policy, Customs, Transport, and Communications of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PA BiH), Safet Softić, is participating in the Regional Meeting of Chairs and Members of Parliamentary Committees on Food and Agriculture from European and Central Asian countries in Tirana.

The meeting, attended by 22 parliamentary delegations from Europe and Central Asia, representatives of the European Parliament, experts from the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), as well as representatives of other international organisations working in this field, includes discussions on the transformation of agricultural and food systems and the role of parliaments in ensuring a more efficient, inclusive, and sustainable system, thus achieving one of the most important Sustainable Development Goals—a world free from hunger by 2030.

In interactive discussions, participants are also addressing specific issues regarding the transformation of the agri-food system, such as introducing the right to food into national legislation, the matter of healthy and sustainable diets, the impact of climate change, as well as innovation and digitalisation in agriculture and food production.

During the plenary session, the outcomes of the interactive group discussions were reviewed to shape conclusions that will support parliamentary contributions from Europe and Central Asia at the upcoming Global Parliamentary Summit against Hunger, as well as laying foundations for fulfilling the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.
