Member of the Delegation of the PABiH in the IPU, Ermina Salkičević - Dizdarević, spoke at the 38th session of the IPU Forum of Women Parliamentarians
Member of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PA BiH) and member of the Delegation of the PA BiH to the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), Ermina Salkičević – Dizdarević, addressed the 38th session of the IPU Forum of Women Parliamentarians, which is taking place in Geneva as part of the 149th Assembly of the IPU.
In her address at the panel titled „The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Democracy, Human Rights, and the Rule of Law“, MP Salkičević – Dizdarević warned of the complexities surrounding the use of artificial intelligence and emphasized the need to find a balance between technological development and the protection of human rights.
Speaking on the ways to safeguard human rights in the use of artificial intelligence, Salkičević – Dizdarević highlighted the necessity of enacting legislative regulations, as well as the importance of education regarding the use of artificial intelligence.
She reminded attendees that the European Parliament adopted the Artificial Intelligence Act in March of this year and that the Council of Europe has issued important recommendations regarding the use of artificial intelligence.
"Knowledge and education regarding artificial intelligence (AI) and its application are crucial in the process of protecting human rights, particularly the rights of women“, stated Salkičević – Dizdarević.
She added that the promotion of ‘AI literacy’ should be a priority in executive branch institutions, the judiciary, law enforcement, human rights protection agencies, as well as in the public sphere and media.
„From the experiences we have in Bosnia and Herzegovina, it is essential to have a robust legislative framework and to work diligently on promoting 'AI literacy’“ concluded member of the Delegation of the PA BiH to the IPU, Ermina Salkičević – Dizdarević, in her address at the session of the IPU Forum of Women Parliamentarians in Geneva.
The Delegation of the PA BiH at the 149th Assembly of the IPU in Geneva is led by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of the PA BiH and Chair of the Delegation of the PA BiH to the IPU, Dr. Denis Zvizdić. In addition to Dr. Zvizdić and MP Salkičević – Dizdarević, the Delegation also includes the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of the PA BiH and Deputy Chair of the Delegation of the PA BiH to the IPU, Marinko Čavara.
