The Chair of the Delegation of the PABiH to the PAM, Rejhana Dervišević, participated in a session of Women Political Leaders (WPL) in New York, focusing on the fight against harmful content generated by artificial intelligence

The Chair of the Delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PABiH) to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM), Rejhana Dervišević, who is attending the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York as part of the PAM delegation, participated in a session of Women Political Leaders (WPL) on combating offensive content generated by artificial intelligence (AI).

This session, jointly organized by WPL and Microsoft, aimed to reaffirm commitment to the safety of AI and expand discussions on combating harmful AI-generated content, with a specific focus on protecting female politicians. It provided an opportunity to identify political and legislative measures to protect women from online violence, foster collaboration between political leaders and tech companies, and highlight the pivotal role of women political leaders in shaping a safer digital space.

In her address to the participants, the Chair of the PABiH Delegation to PAM, Rejhana Dervišević, emphasized the increasing number of cases where women are victims of violence in the digital space, particularly considering the widespread use of false and disinformation AI-generated content.

Speaking on behalf of PAM, Dervišević thanked the organizers for bringing attention to this timely issue and noted that PAM is collaborating with strategic partners to address these challenges, including producing analyses with the support of media organizations and specialized researchers.

According to Dervišević, PAM fully supports international efforts to regulate the use of AI and emerging technologies, including implementing provisions of the Pact for the Future and the Global Digital Compact.

As announced during the session, this topic will be further discussed at the next WPL conference, scheduled to be held in Paris in December of this year. (End)
