Representative in the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PABiH), Rejhana Dervišević, met with Noora Kettunen, Executive Director of Women Social Democrats of Finland
Representative in the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PABiH) and Deputy Chair of the Gender Equality Committeen of the House of Representatives, Rejhana Dervišević, met today in Sarajevo with Noora Kettunen, Executive Director of Women Social Democrats of Finland.
The meeting focused on the issue of gender equality in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as on the promotion and empowerment of women in the highest legislative and executive institutions of government. In this regard, Representative Dervišević informed the guest from Finland about the implementation process of the Istanbul Declaration and the legal framework addressing gender equality in the country.
The provisions of the Election Law of Bosnia and Herzegovina concerning gender equality were particularly mentioned, as well as the representation of women in the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina and legislative institutions at lower levels of government.
Representative Dervišević also informed Ms. Kettunen about the competencies and work of the Gender Equality Committee in the House of Representatives of PABiH.
Ms. Kettunen shared Finland’s experiences and best practices related to strengthening the role of women and commended the institutional and legal framework, as well as the activities being undertaken in Bosnia and Herzegovina towards achieving gender equality and empowering women's rights and roles in all areas of life and society.
