Speaker of the House of Peoples of the PABiH, Dr. Dragan Čović, attended the 309th Sinjska Alka

"It is a pleasure to participate in the internationally recognized preservation of cultural heritage

Organized by the Knights Alka Society of Sinj and under auspices of the President of Croatia, Zoran Milanović, the 309th Sinjska Alka was held today in Sinj. Dr. Dragan Čović, Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PABiH) attended this event.

The Sinjska Alka, a historic knightly game that has been held for over three centuries to commemorate the end of the Ottoman siege of Sinj, symbolizes bravery, honor, and patriotism celebrated by Croats worldwide. It is also listed on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Dr. Čović, Speaker of the PABiH House of Peoples, expressed his satisfaction with participating in the preservation of cultural and historical heritage, highlighting the importance of maintaining this traditional event which attracted thousands of visitors.

At the 309th edition of the Sinjska Alka, 17 participants competed, and Jure Domazet Lošo won this traditional race and he is being officially declared the winner by the Alka Duke.

In addition to the President of Croatia, Zoran Milanović, the event was attended by Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, Speaker of the Croatian Parliament Gordan Jandroković, Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers Borjana Krišto, Member of the House of Representatives of BiH Darijana Filipović, President of Kosovo* Vjosa Osmani, and numerous invitees from the political, cultural, and social life." (Press release from the Office of the Speaker of the House of Peoples, Dr. Dragan Čović)
