Chair of the PABiH Joint Committee for Economic Reforms and Development, Ermina Salkičević-Dizdarević, participated in the Second Session of the Parliamentary Economic Forum of PAM

Upon invitation from the Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM), Sergio Piazzi, the Chair of the Joint Committee for Economic Reforms and Development of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PABiH), Ermina Salkičević-Dizdarević, participated in the second session of the Euro-Mediterranean and Gulf Parliamentary Economic Forum of the PAM, held in Marrakech, Kingdom of Morocco.

The Parliamentary Economic Forum provided a platform for economic experts from the public and private sectors to exchange views, opinions, and best practices on current economic issues and challenges facing the Euro-Mediterranean and Gulf regions. It aimed to inform participants about trends and mobilize them to share information in their parliaments, committees, and other professional organizations.

The focus was particularly on energy supply in the process of green energy transition. The discussion underscored the concept of a fair energy transition, presenting research and practical examples where the development of nuclear power plants achieves more efficient carbon neutrality.

The topic of economic growth and development was thoroughly addressed, with a specific focus on artificial intelligence (AI). It was explained how AI can impact the increase of competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as development of the entrepreneurship, the effect on jobs during automation of processes, and the dynamics of financial sector development.

Chair Salkičević-Dizdarević expressed several viewpoints, which received significant support in her closing remarks and throughout the conference. Salkičević-Dizdarević emphasized that when it comes to AI, it is important to highlight that the solutions offered by artificial intelligence are as good as the quality of inputs into the algorithm, which ultimately depend on human factors.

In this regard, human capital, growth and development, humanization of processes, legal regulations, consumer protection, and strengthening of the education system are crucial prerequisites for effectively utilizing AI as a tool, assessed Salkičević-Dizdarević, emphasizing that the main goal is to avoid a lack of critical attitude towards proposed solutions. She also highlighted that technological advancement is not an end in itself, but should serve as a tool for further economic growth and development of both individual economies and society as a whole.
