Delegation of PA BiH participated in Rome at the 3rd meeting of the Convention for the Strengthening of the Central European Initiative
Chair of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina and member of the Convention for the Strengthening the Central European Initiative, Darijana Filipović, and the Deputy Chair of the PA BiH Delegation in the PD of CEI, Predrag Kožul, participated in the 3rd meeting of the Convention for Strengthening the CEI in Rome.
At the meeting of the Convention, established with the aim to strengthen the political role of the CEI in the process of European integration for countries in negotiations for membership in the European Union (EU), as well as to accelerate the fulfilment of sustainable development goals in the member states of the CEI, conclusions and recommendations from earlier meetings, held in Trieste and Rome in February and April of this year, were adopted.
In the adopted recommendations, which refer to the Parliamentary dimension of this regional multilateral organization, the need to revive the range of structures and meetings within the Parliamentary dimension of the CEI is highlighted, as well as the need to hold meetings of the Parliamentary dimension of the CEI with the European Parliament and its structures with the aim of exchanging experiences and expert and technical support in the process of accession of candidate countries for EU membership.
The adopted recommendations call for strengthening the interaction between the governmental and parliamentary dimensions of the CEI, especially on issues of importance for the European integration process, such as harmonization with the EU's common foreign and security policy.
It is also recommended to strengthen cooperation with other international and regional organizations that share the same mission, goals and priorities advocated by CEI, and to increase the presence of CEI representatives at important European and international events. In this regard, the participants of the meeting advocated the strengthening of the role of the Executive Secretariat of the CEI, and the opening of a special representative office of the CEI at the EU institutions in Brussels.
