The Chair of the Delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PA BiH) to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) extended congratulations to the newly elected Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Alain Berset. Alain Berset, who received the highest support from PACE members in the second round of voting, is a former President of the Swiss Confederation and a long-time member of the Swiss government. He is a member of the Social Democratic Party. In Chair Magazinović's congratulations, it is noted:
„Dear Mr., Berset,
In my personal capacity, as well as on behalf of my colleagues who represent Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, I extend my heartfelt congratulations on your election to the incredibly prominent position of Secretary General of the Council of Europe. In these challenging times, strengthening the institutional pillars of human rights in Europe is of utmost importance, with the Council of Europe and the European Court of Human Rights being crucial institutions in this regard. Given all circumstances, now more than ever, the Council of Europe requires strong and wise leadership. Your responsibility is therefore greater, and expectations from our organization are heightened.
Please note that in all challenging processes ahead, you can expect my support. I believe that together, through cooperation between the Committee of Ministers and the Parliamentary Assembly, we will succeed in strengthening the Council of Europe.
I take this opportunity to thank you for our recent meeting in the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and I look forward to your next visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina, this time in your capacity as Secretary General of the Council of Europe. “(End)
