Members of the Joint Committee for European Integration met with members of the Foreign Policy Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia

Deputy Chair of the Joint Committee for European Integration of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PA BiH), Dženan Đonlagić, and member of this Joint Committee, Mia Karamehić-Abazović, met today in Sarajevo with a delegation of the Foreign Policy Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia, led by the Chair of this Committee, Predrag Baković.

During the meeting, it was noted that the bilateral relations between the two countries are traditionally good and characterized by mutual respect, accompanied by a high level of foreign trade exchange.

Members of the Joint Committee for European Integration of the PA BiH thanked their colleagues from Slovenia for the continuous support that this friendly country provides to Bosnia and Herzegovina in the process of European integration. They underscored the significance of such support and advocacy in advancing the reform processes in our country and in meeting the obligations along the path to European integration. They specifically emphasized Slovenia's expert and technical support in the public administration reform process, along with its contributions in digital transformation and agriculture, which they welcomed. They expressed their expectations for enhanced collaboration in these areas.

They emphasized that full membership of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the European Union (EU) is the primary foreign policy goal of our country, and they assessed that there is a common position on this issue throughout the country. They expressed hope that the topic of our country's European path will take centre stage in the forthcoming period, especially considering the upcoming local elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina, given the benefits that local communities derive from EU accession.

The interlocutors also exchanged information about the current political moment and relations in the two countries, as well as within the EU, where, as they said, there are different views and opinions regarding the continuation of the enlargement process.

Emphasizing the importance of enhancing inter-parliamentary co-operation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Slovenia through various programs, members of the Slovenian delegation stated that their country will continue to strongly support Bosnia and Herzegovina's European aspirations, as well as the overall process of Euro-Atlantic integration in the Western Balkans.
