Member of PA BiH Delegation to PACE Snjezana Novaković – Bursać elected as Vice-President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe

Delegate in the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PA BiH) and member of the PA BiH Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), Snježana Novaković – Bursać, was elected as the Vice President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe during the first part of the regular plenary session of the PACE in Strasbourg.

Novaković - Bursać said on this occasion that it is very important in these times of crisis, when major geopolitical shifts are obviously taking place, to maintain an environment for conversation and exchange of different views. "The Council of Europe made a significant contribution to the development of dialogue and established human rights as essential items in every society, and this role must be preserved," said Novaković-Bursać.

As Vice-President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Novaković-Bursać chaired this week a debate in Strasbourg on the topic "Allegations of systematic torture and inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment in detention units in Europe". (end)
