The leadership of the Houses of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina met with the delegation of the Parliament of Ireland


Bosnia and Herzegovina makes efforts to fulfill requirements that are necessary to start the process of joining the European Union, it was pointed out during today's meeting of the members of the Collegiums of the House of Peoples and the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH with members of the Joint Committee on European Affairs of the Parliament of Ireland.

- The fact is that currently we have a kind of stagnation, because we have not fulfilled the conditions required by the Judgment of the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg in the case of „Sejdić and Finci vs. Bosnia and Herzegovina”, said Sulejman Tihić, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples, stressing the belief that the key political actors will have sufficient power to resolve this issue after the local elections.

According to the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr. Božo Ljubić, the constitutional structure of BiH which was established in Dayton, can hardly result in permanent stability of the country, which calls for constitutional reform profoundly. As he said, resolving strategic issues of Bosnia and Herzegovina will contribute to easier solutions for many other existential issues.
Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples, Ognjen Tadić, pointed out today that the peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina will last as long as it lasts in Europe and that Irish businessmen who can invest in Bosnia and Herzegovina should know this.

- Young people in Bosnia and Herzegovina are intensively educated and have a special sensitivity to modern technological solutions, said Mr. Tadić, adding that it would be good if Irish companies give these young professionals the ability to use acquired knowledge.

Guests from Ireland pointed out that Ireland assume the presidency of the European Union in 2013 and wants to contribute to the European path of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina, it was said today, is a part of the process of defining priorities for the period of Presidency as well as the attempt to give additional encouragement to the enlargement process of the European Union in the region.
