Delegate in the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Džemal Smajić, participated in a symposium on the transparency of state parliaments in Ljubljana.

The symposium, organized by the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia and the Institute "Today Is a New Day," presented the regional index of openness and transparency of state legislative institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Croatia, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Slovenia. This index has been compiled for several years by the network of non-governmental organizations called "Action See" throughout the region.

Participants in the symposium engaged in discussions about the regional index of openness and transparency of parliaments, as well as a panel discussion on the role of parliaments in promoting active citizenship and the role of artificial intelligence in 21st-century parliaments.

The participants exchanged information and best practices on these topics, emphasizing that transparency, openness, integrity, and the efficiency of the highest legislative institutions are crucial elements of a democratic, inclusive, and open society. (end)
