Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples Ognjen Tadić met with the Deputy Speaker of the State Duma of the Russian Federation
During day one of the European Conference of Presidents of Parliaments held in Strasbourg, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mr. Ognjen Tadić, met with the Deputy Speaker of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Mr. Ivan Melnikov.
In an open and cordial conversation, Tadić and Melnikov exchanged views on the work of the Council of Europe in terms of the treatment of the states they are representing, with special reference to the reports that pertain to the actual issues in BiH and the Russian Federation.
Tadić introduced Melnikov to the problems in the implementation of the Decision of the European Court of Human Rights in the Sejdić&Finci case, which pertain to a trend of using this issue primarily for serving the interests of certain constituent peoples, and then secondarily for solving the status of the national minorities. Tadić invited the representative of the Russian State Duma to continue their support to the Dayton Peace Accords, as the document of peace and stability in BiH. Also, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples informed Melnikov that the appellants Dervo Sejdić and Jakob Finci have accepted the solutions for the implementation of the verdict, as proposed by the Republika Srpska yesterday.
On several occasions Melnikov reiterated Russian support to the Dayton Peace Accords and expressed a full understanding of the complexity of relations in BiH. He praised the good co-operation between the two states, with special emphasis on positive relations with the Republika Srpska. He also supported an authentic internal political dialogue towards finding solutions for all actual issues in BiH. (The End)
