The Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Chair of the Friendship Group for Western Europe Sulejman Tihić held a meeting with the Delegation of Senate of the Republic of France during which they emphasized that relations between the two countries are good and without unresolved issues.
Speaking about the current political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Tihić said that it is important to promote the politics of settlement, dialogue and agreement, as well as to strengthen the institutions which represent the rule of law. “Bosnia and Herzegovina is a multiethnic country in which the ethnic principle dominates, and accordingly, it is necessary to work on achieving a balance between the civic and national. On the other hand, also necessary are changes that would eliminate an expensive and non-functional system and which would make Bosnia and Herzegovina an effective country,” he emphasized.
During the meeting, the Chair of the Friendship Group for Balkans, Jean Pierr Michel, said that the Balkans are important for France, but that the Balkans can not be stable if Bosnia and Herzegovina is not stable, while the Deputy of the Group for Bosnia and Herzegovina, Billout Michel, emphasized that his country strongly supports the accession of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the European Union.
During the meeting, Tihić received a medallion of the Senate followed by an invitation to visit the Republic of France. (end)
