Saša Magazinović, member of the House of Representatives of the PA BiH, addressed the Parliament of Malta in his capacity as the Chair of the Committee for Sustainable Development of the Global Parliament for Peace and Tolerance

Magazinović in the Parliament of Malta:

In my country, generations are growing up whose role models are war criminals, and that is not a prerequisite for peace.

Member of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PABiH), Saša Magazinović, in his capacity as the Chair of the Committee for Sustainable Development of the Global Parliament for Peace and Tolerance, was invited to address the Parliament of Malta at the international meeting "Building peace and tolerance despite current challenges". MP Magazinović addressed on the topic of building peace and tolerance in the region that includes the countries of the Mediterranean, the Middle East and North Africa.

In his speech, he placed special emphasis on the new generations and their role in the development of a culture of tolerance and peace. "Do we ask ourselves how insufficiently we pay attention to young people, how little we tell them about the culture of peace and tolerance, about how much our differences are actually our advantage? Do we think enough about who are role models for young people and why is that so? Generations are growing up in my country, among which there are a worrying number of those for whom war criminals are heroes. They were born after the war. They learn this from their elders, among other things, from politicians who do not acknowledge war crimes and glorify convicted war criminals! Believe me, this is certainly not a prerequisite for sustainable peace," said Magazinović.

Magazinović was also one of the speakers on the panel on the role of the European Union (EU) as a global player in ensuring peace in the Balkan region, chaired by the President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, Duarte Pacheco. Magazinović pointed out that the values on which the EU rests are exemplary models of values on which modern societies should be based. The problem arises when the EU outside its borders supports or closes its eyes to values that it would never allow in its community. This is why he believes, as pointed out in his address, that the EU should respect and promote its values in every part of the world in order to be respected itself.

During his visit to Malta, Magazinović had the opportunity to meet with the President of the State, George Vella, the President of the Parliament of Malta, Angelo Farrugia, and many other officials of the Mediterranean and African countries."
