The finalized 14th Inter-parliamentary Meeting of the Joint Committee on European Integration of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Delegation of the European Parliament for relations with Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro and Kosovo
Today, a two-day Inter-parliamentary Meeting of the Joint Committee on European Integration of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Delegation of the European Parliament for relations with Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Serbia, Montenegro and Kosovo was concluded in the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH. Exchanging views the issues important for the more rapid entry of BiH into the European Union, the collocutors placed special emphasis on the recommendations from the latest Progress Report 2012 for BiH. Among other issues, the issue of the reciprocity of Ploče Port was discussed, considering that the Republic of Croatia becomes a full member of European Union on 1 Jul 2013. It was stressed that resolving this issue means respecting the rights and agreements reached so far between BiH and the Republic of Croatia. In addition, the delegations exchanged opinions on visa liberalization, and the EU Delegation expressed the hope that the visa regimen for European Union member countries will not be re-introduced for BiH citizens. The members of the European Delegation Parliament acknowledged the evident stagnation of BiH on its road to the EU, and stated that domestic politicians have to do much more to fulfil the conditions for accelerated joining of the EU. At the end of the meeting, a Joint Statement was adopted, with the express hope that more positive news on BiH's road to the EU will discussed at the next parliamentarian meeting. (end)
