The Conference " The Role of Parliaments in the European Integration Process - Constitutional and Legal Changes"


A two-day international conference entitled ‘The Role of Parliaments in the European Integration Process – Constitutional and Legal Changes’ was held today at the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

On the closing day of the conference, the participants discussed the different experiences of Serbia, BiH, Macedonia, Albania and Montenegro, the initiation of key issues and how parliaments should respond to such. In addition, existing plans to initiate constitutional and legislative reforms, the methods for including the public in the process and the role of legal experts were discussed.

Opinions on previous models of harmonization, the most difficult challenges to resolve and recommendations were discussed under the topic ‘How to Efficiently Harmonize Domestic Legislation with the EU Acquis Communautaire’.

Also discussed was the role of parliaments in the ‘European Integration Process: Constitutional and Legislative Changes – Recommendations and Conclusions.’
At the end of the conference, co-organized by the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, conclusions were reached, which you can read here.
