Delegation of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH talked with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Azerbaijan

 
On the first day of a bilateral visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr. Božo Ljubić, First Deputy Speaker Dr. Denis Bećirović, and Member of the House of Representatives, Milica Marković held separate meetings with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev and the Speaker of the National Assembly of Azerbaijan, Ogtay Asadov.

Dr.Ljubić emphasized at the meetings the possible co-operation between the two countries, while presenting the economic potential of BiH, and focusing on areas of water-power supply, metalworking industry, agriculture, industrial production and mining industry. He also stressed the importance of the ''Business Forum'', soon to take place in Banja Luka, where a Delegation of Azerbaijan will actively participate. In addition, Dr Ljubić stressed the importance of the Azerbaijani gas pipeline route.

Dr Denis Becirović outlined the fact that the two countries have good relations without any outstanding issues, which should be the grounds for concrete moves. He emphasized that more regular meetings between the representatives of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Azerbaijan are desirable, as well as strengthening co-operation in the areas of medicine, culture, and academic co-operation. Tourism and the promotion of the tourism potential of both countries were emphasized as an important connection between the two countries.

A Member of BiH PA, Ms Milica Marković commended the good relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Azerbaijan, stressing that the Resolution on Azerbaijan, adopted by the BiH PA House of Representatives, represents a message of friendship from Bosnia and Herzegovina to the citizens of Azerbaijan.

The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, reminded all that good relations between the two countries have a long tradition, and so much in common. He emphasized that Azerbaijan has an active dialogue with the countries of the former Yugoslavia and showed an interest in the western Balkans. Azerbaijan’s interest is evidenced by intensive visits by delegations from Azerbaijan to the countries in region, and Mr Aliyev said that Azerbaijan has serious plans for investment in Bosnia and Herzegovina, since diplomatic contact between the two countries had intensified.

The Speaker of the National Assembly, Ogtay Asadov said that a visit by the Delegation of the BiH PA to Azerbaijan represents an important step towards the further intensification of bilateral relations between the two countries. (end)
