The Deputy Speaker of the BiH PA House of Peoples, Mr Ognjen Tadić, gave a presentation on the second day of a seminar on organized crime, held in Brussels
On the second day of a parliamentary seminar on the fight against organized crime, corruption and money laundering, the connection between drug cartels and European organized crime was discussed, as well as systemic corruption in public administration, and measures to counter the negative impact on the EU. Corruption in public procurement and the misuse of EU Funds were also discussed.
In his presentation on the efforts of the Parliament to improve action against organized crime, corruption and money laundering, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples of the BiH PA, Mr. Ognjen Tadić, informed seminar participants about the current situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with an emphasis on the role of the BiH PA in the fight against crime and corruption. Mr. Tadić presented the BiH PA’s strategy for this area and said that public opinion is that the source of the government’s inefficiency, poverty and low economic activity lies in corruption and organized crime. He also added that bad examples set by politicians had created a climate in which corrupt behaviour and crime are regarded as acceptable. Therefore, said Mr. Tadić, a vital first step towards resolving the problem is to sort it out with the politicians, and thus removing a major cause of the problem. (end)
