Dr Denis Bećirović, Speaker of the House of Representatives, spoke to Valentin Inzko, the High Representative in BiH

 
Dr Denis Bećirović, Speaker of the BiH PA House of Representatives spoke today in Sarajevo to the High Representative in BiH, Dr Valentin Inzko.

At the meeting, the Speaker of the House of Representatives familiarized the High Representative with the current activities of the BiH PA, significant for the continuation of BiH’s accession to Euro-Atlantic integration. He especially emphasized his intention to finalize, as soon as possible, the work currently in Parliamentary procedure on amendments to the Constitution of BiH, in order to facilitate the process of the final implementation of the European Court of Human Rights’ judgment in the Sejdić and Finci vs. BiH case.
The necessity of a rapid solution to the problem in Mostar, the citizen identification number, and the current condition of the Federation of BiH, was also discussed.

The interlocutors agreed, amongst other things, that it is necessary to make additional efforts to create a more favourable economic and political environment in BiH, both for reforms and for the EU accession process. It was emphasized that the politics of reaching an agreement in institutional systems does not have any alternative, and that in the upcoming period, the steps necessary to create a more positive political and economic environment in BiH should be accelerated.
