Representative Ismeta Dervoz participated in the Conference on Freedom of Expression and the Media in the Western Balkans and Turkey

 
Ismeta Dervoz, of the BiH PA House of Representatives, participated today as a panellist in the work of the second “Speak Up!” conference, held in Brussels, and dealing with freedom of expression and the media in the countries of the Western Balkans and Turkey.

In “The Role of Parliaments in the Protection of Freedom of Expression and the Media” panel discussion, Mr. Dervoz spoke about the non-implementation of the legislation adopted in the BiH Parliaments, problems related to the work of public broadcasters in the digitalization process, and the need for stable financing of public broadcasters, emphasizing the complexity and division of media space in BiH.

Mr. Dervoz participated yesterday in the work of the Sub-Committee for Human Rights of the European Parliament. Members of the Sub-Committee exchanged opinions on legal aspects related to the media and freedom of expression with members of the Committee for Science, Culture, Education, and Media of the Council of Europe from Croatia, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro, Turkey and BiH.
