Dr Denis Bećirović, Speaker of the BiH PA House of Representatives, met with the Ambassador of Japan

 
Dr Denis Bećirović, Speaker of the BiH PA House of Representatives, met today in Sarajevo with Hideo Yamazaki, the Ambassador of Japan to BiH. Dr Bećirović thanked the Ambassador of Japan for the help his country has offered to Bosnia and Herzegovina via the Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA), especially with regard to peace-building, recovery of infrastructure and economic development. Dr Bećirović stated that Japan is one of the biggest donors and investors in BiH, with projects spanning across various sectors.

At the end of the conversation, Dr Bećirović pointed to the need to intensify the economic co-operation between BiH and Japan, which could be stronger and more productive regardless of the geographical distance between these two countries. During their constructive meeting, the tourism potential of BiH was also mentioned, as well as ways in which the Embassy of Japan can contribute to increased promotion of BiH in Japan. As announced by the Cabinet of the Speaker of the BiH PA House of Representatives, the interlocutors agreed that in order to attract as many tourists as possible to BiH, a change in tourists’ perception of the country, coupled with larger access to information, is necessary.
