The Amendments to the Report on Functioning of Democratic Institutions adopted at the regular gathering of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe

At the regular session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) in Strasbourg, the Amendments to the Report on Functioning of Democratic Institutions of BiH were adopted by a vast majority of votes, as submitted by members of the permanent delegation of the BiH PA in PACE: Milica Marković, Ismeta Dervoz, Borjana Krišto, Nermina Kapetanović, Saša Magazinović and Senad Šepić. The amendments remove the future possibility of proposed sanctions in BiH.

The permanent delegation of the BiH PA in PACE acted in complete unity, responding by „a single vote“; this earned them positive recognition by those who, in their closing discussions, praised the recent efforts and progress achieved in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

With signatures and votes in support of the Amendments, parliamentarians from numerous European countries, especially regional neighbors, have proven to know the spirit and functioning principles of the Council of Europe—unlike the proponents of sanctions. Such functioning principles are grounded in support, co-operation, and the exchanges of experience and knowledge—not sanctions and threats.

In general, the members of the permanent delegation of the BiH PA actively participated in the plenary session, and in the work of committees and political groups of the PACE. In only a few days, dozens of meetings took place with delegations from other countries and with the influential individuals from the Council of Europe.

Particular attention was given to the activities undertaken by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH through its diplomatic-consular network in member countries of the Council of Europe, as well as to the contributions of BiH’s Mission in Strasbourg. (end)
