First meeting of the Parliamentary Committee for Stabilisation and Association, between the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the European Parliament, concludes

The first meeting of the Parliamentary Committee for Stabilisation and Association (PCSA), between the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the European Parliament, concluded today in Sarajevo. This is a parliamentary forum established on the basis of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA) to consider all aspects of relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the European Union (EU) and monitor the implementation of the SAA.

During the two-day meeting, co-chaired by Nikola Lovrinović, the Chairman of the Joint Committee on European Integration of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and by Tonino Picula, the President of the European Parliament Delegation for Relations with Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo, various current issues were discussed, including protection of human rights and freedoms, the refugee crisis confronting the EU and Bosnia and Herzegovina, the situation in public finances and regional co-operation in South-East Europe.

Participants failed to reach an agreement on the adoption of the PCSA Rules of Procedure, in particular due to disagreements related to the decision-making in this joint body of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the European Parliament.

It was agreed that the next meeting of this body will be held on 8 and 9 June 2016 in Strasbourg. (end)
