The Speaker of the House of Peoples, Safet Softić, and the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Šefik Džaferović, received a Delegation from the Parliament of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
The Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PABIH), Safet Softić, and the Deputy Speaker of the PABiH House of Representatives, Šefik Džaferović, spoke today in Sarajevo with a Delegation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (Majlis-ash-Shura), who attended the commemoration of the 23rd anniversary of genocide of Bosniaks in Srebrenica.
With the high-level parliamentary delegation, led by the Chair of the Friendship Group for BiH, Dr Abdullah Humud Al-Harbey, and the ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to BiH, Hani bin Abdullah Mominah, discussions took place about possibilities of improving the friendly relations of the two countries, especially in the area of inter-parliamentary cooperation and strengthening of economic cooperation.
Pointing out that the views of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia towards BiH are steadfast, firm and stable, and that the country respects the sovereignty of BiH and the right to peaceful coexistence of all its citizens, the Saudi Arabia parliamentarians emphasised that it is necessary to work on attracting investment from Saudi Arabia in BiH as well as on the tourism plan through stronger inter-parliamentary cooperation and the exchange of visits at the highest level, as our country, as they said, represents an extremely attractive tourist destination for the citizens of Saudi Arabia. In this regard, it was emphasised that the two countries should make efforts to facilitate the entry of businessmen and tourists from Saudi Arabia into BiH.
Thanking the high-level guests for being present at the commemoration of the anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica, Softić and Džaferović emphasised how highly they appreciate the friendship and support of the Saudi Arabia. According to the PABiH highest officials, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is pursuing a credible policy vis-à-vis all peoples living in Bosnia and Herzegovina, a country that can and wants to use its multi-ethnicity as an advantage for economic and political co-operation, both with the countries of the Islamic world and with all those in favour of a better future of our country.
Softić and Džaferović expressed the hope that the forthcoming visit of His Royal Highness Prince Sultan bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud to our country will confirm the friendly relations of the two countries, and will improve economic cooperation between BiH and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The highest officials of the PABiH renewed the invitation to the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to visit Bosnia and Herzegovina by the end of this year. (End)
