Members of the Joint Committee on European Integration met the Minister for European Affairs of the Republic of Ireland

Today the First Deputy of the Joint Committee on European Integration, Vesna Krstović – Spremo, and Committee members, Nermina Zaimović – Uzunović and Mehmed Bradarić, spoke with the Minister of the Republic of Ireland, Paschal Donohue, during his three-day official visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina. During the conversation, Minister Donohue expressed his interest in the work of the Committee, as well as in the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s political parties’ attitudes towards the implementation of the Decision of the European Court of Human Rights in the Sejdić – Finci case and the establishment of a co-ordination mechanism; the two conditions which would enable Bosnia and Herzegovina to submit a credible application for EU candidacy status and entrance into the EU.

Likewise, the Minister for European Affairs of the Republic of Ireland expressed concern for the problems in BiH, hoping that disputed political issues will be resolved in due course. During the meeting, co-operation between the Republic of Ireland and BiH in the area of higher education was also mentioned. The fact that more and more students from our country study in the Republic of Ireland has been mostly welcomed. (end)
