Dr. Božo Ljubić, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, and Dr. Halid Genjac, Chair of the Joint Committee on European Integration, met the leaders of the "Strengthening of the Capacity of the Parliaments in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the context of EU Accession" Twinning Project
Dr. Božo Ljubić, First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH PA) and Dr. Halid Genjac, Chair of the Joint Committee on European Integration, met with Zoltan Horvath, Leader of the "Strengthening the Capacity of the Parliaments in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Context of EU accession" Twinning Project, as well as Omar Filipović, Project Manager of the beneficiary country.
During today's meeting it was stressed that this strategic project’s aim is to find the most acceptable and appropriate model for BiH in the EU accession process. Mr. Horvath, who performs this function on behalf of a Consortium of Hungarian and French parliaments, told the hosts that approximately one hundred experts from twenty EU Member States will participate in the project and that activities will be implemented through professional staff training, but also through technically equipping all levels of parliaments in BiH, to ensure that they are prepared rise to the challenges of European integration.
Practical implementation of the project started on 1 February 2014, and the European Commission envisages funds amounting to 4,690,000 Euro for the first two components. It was said that the amount of investment is testament to the significance of the entire project and therefore it is vital that the representatives of the national parliaments (Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, National
Assembly of RS, Parliament of FBiH and Brčko District Assembly of BiH) and the experts implementing this project support on behalf of the European Union, ensure that they co-operate to the best of their abilities.
