Meeting between Boško Šiljegović, Parliamentary Military Commissioner of BiH, and Ambassador Fletcher M. Burton, Head of the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina
Mr Boško Šiljegović, Parliamentary Military Commissioner of BiH, met today in Sarajevo, with Ambassador Fletcher M. Burton, Head of OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina (the Mission) and Mr John Martin, Deputy Director of OSCE Security and Co-operation Department.
During the meeting, the Mission expressed its interested in the work of the Office of Parliamentary Military Commissioner of BiH, in light of the Performance Report of this Office. Recently, the Performance Report of the Office of Parliamentary Military Commissioner of BiH was unanimously adopted at the session of the Joint Committee for Defence and Security of the PA BiH, and will be considered in the forthcoming period at the sessions of both BiH PA Houses.
In addition, interlocutors conveyed a particular interest in the field of protection of human rights and fundamental freedom of members of the BiH Armed Forces, focusing on cases of human rights and violation of fundamental freedom of members of the BiH Armed Forces.
Ambassador Burton promised strong support from the Mission to the Office of Parliamentary Military Commissioner of BiH in the protection of human rights and fundamental freedom to members of the BiH Armed Forces, expressing all due respect to the institution of the Military Commissioner.
In addition, Mr Burton stressed that the Mission will provide all necessary logistical support to the Office of Parliamentary Military Commissioner in organizing thematic conferences in the forthcoming period, as well organization of field visits by this Office and the Joint Committee on Defence and Security of the BiH PA to members of the BiH Armed Forces.
Mr Boško Šiljegović, thanked Ambassador Burton for the support provided to the Office of Parliamentary Military Commissioner by the Mission and the Security and Co-operation Department in the past, and he expressed his belief that close mutual co-operation will be continued in the future. (end)
