Members of Collegiums of House of Representatives and House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH discussed with President of Assembly of Montenegro
The Members of the Collegiums of the House of Representatives and the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PABiH) discussed today with the Delegation of the Assembly of Montenegro, which is in the official working visit to our country, headed by the President of the Assembly, Ivan Brajović.
Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro, as emphasized during the meeting, have very good mutual relations which are not burdened with open issues. The agreement on the mutual border between two neighbouring countries, which is the first such agreement in the region, is, as it was jointly assessed, a strong indicator of open and friendly ties, and a number of important mutual agreements are being prepared or defined, all this will further consolidate a good relationships in the future.
However, it was assessed that good political relations should be accompanied by the improvement of the economic relations between two countries and that there is no room for satisfaction with the current modest level of trade. At this occasion also it was emphasized the need to solve the problems of weak traffic connections between BiH and Montenegro, which primarily concern the road across Šćepan Polje, and as a good and economically viable option was mentioned the construction of the railway line Čapljina - Trebinje - Nikšić.
The President Brajović has emphasized today that for Montenegro the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Bosnia and Herzegovina is an absolute priority and when it comes to our country's path to the European Union, he has conveyed the readiness of his country, as the current regional leader in the pre-accession fulfilling of the European standards, to provide all necessary assistance in a similar process which is ahead of BiH.
The Members of the Collegiums of both Chambers of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH have congratulated the Montenegrin delegation for the membership of their country to NATO and it was estimated that it represents a contribution to further stabilization of the entire region. (end)
