The Parliamentary Assembly was established in the mid-20th century. During the ravages of war, in the period of 1992 – 1995, the library was devastated, while the library’s holdings were almost entirely destroyed. Upon constituting of the Parliamentary Assembly of B&H, the library has been restored, and since 2002 became operational. Currently, the library contains about three thousand library items: books, periodicals, audio/visual editions, and electronic databases from the fields of law, politics, international relations, public administration, European integration, economics, sociology, history, geography and other.
Members of the B&H PA's library are the members of Parliament of the B&H PA, members of working bodies, and employees of the B&H PA. Temporarily, the external users can be students, scientific – research workers, and other interested citizens whose requests to use library services have been authorized. The entire library holdings can be searched via e-catalogue, here. The library is a member of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) – Section for Parliamentary Libraries and Research Services.
The library of the B&H PA has been a member of the B&H Virtual Library since 2006. (ViBBiH Centre). Online catalogue is available to users via COBISS network here.
EBSCO is an American database which contains over one hundred thousand magazines and monographs, covering all fields of human knowledge.
GreenFILE database provides research on the environmental effects of individuals. It covers themes and titles that are of interest to government officials, students and researchers. Here you can find here the indexes and abstracts for more than 384,000 records, as well as 4,700 records which can be accessed in the full text through Open Access.
LIBRARY, INFORMATION SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY ABSTRACTS (LISTA) is a database which consists of indexes of more than 735 journals, and books, research reports and procedures. It covers themes in the field of librarianship, classification, cataloging, bibliometrics, online resources, and information management. The earliest information extends as far back as the mid-1960s.
EUROPEAN VIEWS OF THE AMERICAS 1493 TO 1750 is a new bibliographic database, a very important European register of works about America. EBSCO Publisher, in cooperation with the John Carter Brown Library, created this important resource for the study based on a representative bibliography " European Americana: A Chronological Guide to Works Printed In Europe Relating to the Americas, 1493-1750", which is recognized by relevance in scientific research circles around the world. The database contains more than 32,000 data and it is a compiled guide on printed editions of Americans who have written in Europe before 1750.

WHAT KIND OF MATERIAL CAN BE FOUND IN THE LIBRARY’S HOLDING?
In the library of the B&H PA, you can find books, periodicals, CDs, DVDs, online databases from the fields of law, politics, international relations, public administration, European integration, economics, sociology, history, geography, etc, including publications by the B&H PA.
HOW CAN I BECOME A USER OF THE LIBRARY OF THE B&H PA?
You can become a temporary user of the library by filling out the library request form, and upon its approval. Download the request form
HOW LONG CAN I KEEP LIBRARY MATERIALS?
Library materials can not be taken out of the library.
WHAT ARE THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF LIBRARY USERS?
A user – researcher is responsible for the following
- Stating the library of the B&H PA as a source of research;
- Submitting to the library of the B&H PA at least one copy of published research
WHERE IS THE LIBRARY LOCATED?
The library is located in the B&H Parliamentary Assembly building, Trg B&H 1, 71000 Sarajevo, second floor.
WHAT ARE THE WORKING HOURS OF THE LIBRARY?
The library is open every day from 09:00 a.m. to 05:00 p.m.
