Members of the Collegium of the House of Peoples and the House of Representatives spoke with the President of Montenegro

Members of the Collegium of the House of Peoples and the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina spoke with the President of Montenegro, Mr. Filip Vujanović, who is in a several-day official visit to our country.

It was pointed out during the meeting that the fact that there are no open issues between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro is an indicator of a good quality of overall relations between the two neighbouring countries. The signing of the demarcation agreement is given as an example of good practice in terms of relations among countries in the region.

The interlocutors agreed that there is significant potential for improving mutual economic relations. In that sense, it was emphasized that there is a need for greater and more serious works on promotion of good practices which would be backed by the two countries to encourage businessmen and even potential investors to enter this economic area.

Today, the problematic issue of land transport links between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro was brought up once again. The interlocutors said during the meeting that it is high time to finally find a way to modernize the famous but run-down road that connects the two countries through Šćepan Polje, as well as to step up activities related to the construction of a railway which would connect Čapljina and Nikšić.

Cooperation of the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro governments was highly rated. However, as has been said, there is a need to further intensify those relations in the spirit of common aspirations towards the European Union and strengthening of inter-parliamentary cooperation is very important in this process.
