An official working meeting with the Collegium of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of Japan was held

The Delegation of the House of Representative of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, led by the Deputy Speaker of the House, Dr. Božo Ljubić, received today an official visit from the Delegation of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of Japan, led by the Speaker, Mr Bunmei Ibuki.

At the beginning of today's official working meeting, Mr Ljubić expressed his gratitude to the friendly people of Japan for their country’s continuing support to the reconstruction of Bosnia and Herzegovina and its economic capacities, and for the overall development of democratic processes. He also expressed special gratitude for Japan's assistance to our country in repairing the damage caused by the recent flooding in May.

Besides the Deputy Speaker of the BiH PA House of Representatives, Members of the House of Representatives, Azra Hadžiahmetović, Lazar Prodanović, Mato Franjičević and Mirsad Đugum attended the meeting. It was stressed that there is much room for further development of economic co-operation between the two friendly countries and potential for decreasing the unemployment rate. Renewable energy sources, the tourist industry and organic food production were identified as areas which could be of investment interest for Japanese entrepreneurs. The guests from Japan emphasized that greater social stability in BiH is a prerequisite for the increased presence of Japanese entrepreneurs in BiH's market. Mr Ljubić said that it would be beneficial if potential investors were familiar with the fact that BiH has both a convenient and safe market; and when it comes to the general safety of BiH citizens, our country is the top in Europe.

The Members of the Delegation of the Parliament of Japan were particularly interested in the upcoming general elections and expressed the hope that the elections would be held in a democratic spirit, and that the government would be formed soon after the elections.

During their visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina, high-ranking Japanese officials met with members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina and also visited the Clinical Centre University of Sarajevo. (end)
