Members of the Collegium of the House of Peoples met with the head of the Iranian Center for Strategic Research

Within the framework of the official visit to Iran, members of the Collegium of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the speaker Safet Softić and deputy speaker of the House of Peoples Ognjen Tadić, met with the head of Iranian Center for Strategic Research and former longtime Iranian minister for foreign affairs Ali Akbar Velajatijem.

Mr Velajati welcomed the progress of Bosnia and Herzegovina on its European path and expressed his belief that politicians will know to choose the best solutions for our country. He added that friendly peoples of BiH, on every path they choose, will have full support of Iran.

Collocutors agreed that political and economic relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Iran in the upcoming period must be improved and that two sides need to work much more on removing barriers, which divides friendly countries. This primarily refers to the establishment of a visa-free regime in the future and improvement of mutual transport connections, which will definitely contribute to easier connecting of business people and easier establishment of economic and trade relations.

Meeting was the opportunity for members of the Collegium of the House of Peoples to share with their host their views on current events in the world, and in particular on the increase of extremism and terrorism. In this light, the role of Iran was welcomed in seeking solutions in the region. (end)
