Members of the Collegium of both Houses of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina spoke with the Head of the EU Delegation and EU Special Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Members of the Collegium of the House of Representatives and House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH PA) met during an inaugural visit with the Head of the EU Delegation and EU Special Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Ambassador Lars-Gunnar Wigemark.

During the discussion, it was emphasized that BiH has a great opportunity to use the favourable environment for drawing closer to the EU and that the most important issue is to begin the process of economic and social reform to improve citizens’ standard of living. At the same time, it was stated that it is important to work on structural reform and respect for human rights. Constitutional reform remains the priority, with the goal of implementing the Judgment of the European Court of Human Rights and making the relevant amendments to BiH electoral legislation.

The importance of the BiH PA’s role in the process of drawing closer to the EU and achieving European standards was also highlighted. It was announced that, in the near future, a parliamentary committee will be established, whose main purpose will be to maintain permanent relations between the BiH PA and the European Parliament.
