Delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH PA) at the third part of the regular session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE)

The BiH PA Permanent Delegation to the PACE, consisting of the Delegation Chair, Senad Šepić, Deputy Chair, Borjana Krišto, and members of the Permanent Delegation, Milica Marković, Mladen Bosić and Željko Komšić will participate at the third part of the regular annual session of the PACE from 22 to 26 June in Strasbourg.

The session is planned to begin with the selection of the Vice President of the Assembly and with changes to the committee composition. Alongside a debate on current issues, it will also include consideration of issue of the need for a common European response to migration challenges.

During the session, it is planned that those PACE delegates present will be addressed by the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki Moon, and the event programme also plans addresses by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chair of the Committee of Ministers, Igor Crnadak, as well as the Chair of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mladen Ivanić.

At the session, among other things, debates are planned on: the reports on the activities of the Bureau and the Standing Committee; observations on the parliamentary elections in Turkey; improving protection for whistleblowers; an assessment of the partnership for democracy with the Parliament of Morocco; and the functioning of democratic institutions in Azerbaijan. Also, delegates will discuss the situation in Hungary after the adoption of Parliamentary Resolution 1941; persons missing in the conflicts in Ukraine; the new European social model; strengthening co-operation in the fight against cyber terrorism and other large-scale attacks on the Internet. The debate will be conducted in terms of recognizing and preventing neo-racism, and a joint debate is planned on increasing media ownership transparency, as well as on the responsibility and morality of the media in a changing media environment.

The program of work also includes the election of judges to the European Court of Human Rights, as well as the election of deputies to the Secretary General of the Council of Europe. (End)
