Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Czech Republic have friendly relations, but inadequate economic co-operation. This was the conclusion at the meeting today between the members of the Joint Committee on Supervision of the work of the Intelligence and Security Agency of BiH, the Committee on Foreign and Trade Policy, Customs, Transportation and Communications of the House of Peoples of BiH PA and the delegation of the Commission on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Security of the Senate of the Czech Republic, headed by commission chairman, Mr Jozef Regec.

The Chair of the Joint Committee on Supervision of the work of the Intelligence and Security Agency of BiH, Mr Mirsad Đugum, reminded meeting attendees that during the period 2006 - 2009, with the help of the Czech Republic, about 20 projects were planned for implementation in this country. "The realization of some projects has been halted due to problems from the BiH side, but I hope that these projects carry the potential to be realized in the future," said Mr Đugum, while a member of the Joint Commission, Mr Amir Fazlić, stressed that it is desirable to use these kind of meetings to raise the level of bilateral co-operation.

In his remark that the overall trade exchange between our two countries in the last period was around 180 million Euros, the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign and Trade Policy, Customs, Transportation and Communications of the House of Peoples, Mr Hasan Bećirović, pointed out that the value of goods exported from Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Czech Republic Republic is about 37 million Euros.
"The overall structure of the export trade amounts to about 27 percent, which means that there is room for improvement in this area," said Mr Bećirović.

The Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Bosnia, Mr Tomas Szunyog, stressed that Bosnia and Herzegovina remains on the list of priority projects of the Czech Republic in the period 2011-2017, including support to agriculture and rural development, environmental protection, energy, and state administration in the process of EU integration.
