Members of the Joint Committee on Defence and Security of BiH visit to Austria

 
Chairperson, Dušanka Majkić, First Deputy, Borjana Krišto, and member of the Joint Committee on Defence and Security of BiH, Nermin Zaimović-Uzunović, visited the Parliament of the Republic of Austria and spoke with Maria Kunasek and Rainer Widmann, both members of the Defence Committee.

During the meeting, views were exchanged on numerous issues under the jurisdiction of the Committee, especially the problems of defence budget, experiences of parliamentary oversight, as well as activities for developing security policies. Satisfaction with bilateral co-operation was expressed, as well as praise for the activity of the Army of the Republic of Austria to the EU mission ALTHEA, where their contribution is highly rated.

The Joint Committee delegation visited the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Austria, where the hosts presented the current level of armed forces development in Austria, the processing of doctrinal documents and the participation of civil society in this process. The status of personnel, force structure and resolving the issue of surplus weapons and military equipment were also discussed.
During the visit to the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Austria, General Major Bernard Bair, former EUFOR commander in BiH, received the members of the Joint Committee on Defence and Security of BiH. (end)
