The Members of the Joint Committe on European Integration held a meeting with the Deputy Director General of the Directorate General for Enlargement

Today, the Chair Halid Genjac and members of the Joint Committee on European Integration Šefik Džaferović, Mehmed Bradarić, Stjepan Krešić and Lazar Prodanović held a meeting with the Deputy Director General of the Directorate General for Enlargement Joost Korte. In addition, the EU Special Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Peter Sorensen was present.
Mr. Korte marked the Donors Conference on Durable Solutions for Refugees and Displaced Persons, which was held yesterday, as a historic event. “We in Brussels have noticed that the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina is getting better, and at this point, it is clear that the report for 2012 will be more positive than the report for 2011. We see that responsible ones are ready to work on the fulfilment of their duties,” he said. Mr. Korte emphasized the importance of the implementation of the “Sejdić – Finci” decision and expressed concern for the fact that the budget for 2012 has not been adopted yet.

The Chair of the Joint Committee, Halid Genjac announced a meeting on the readiness of Bosnia and Herzegovina to deal with the consequences of the accession of Croatia to the European Union and the possible increase in the number of people crossing from the border of our country to the border with Croatia, which will be held in co-operation with the High Representative on the 25th of May. He said that through the Parliamentary Co-operation Forum co-ordination between the bodies in charge of the issues of European integration at all levels of government is established. In addition, he emphasized the importance of the process of fulfilment of the requirements toward the EU path, which should be horizontally and vertically co-ordinated.

Lazar Prodanović emphasized that the SNSD is ready to support the Draft Budget for 2012, as well as the implementation of the decision from Strasbourg. On the other hand, Šefik Džaferović stressed that all the problematic issues regarding the implementation of the decision in the “Sejdić – Finci” case have been resolved, while the one remaining unsolved issue depends on the results of the agreement between the leaders of the six political parties. “All problematic issues should be discussed in the government institutions, while the support for the final solution is the agreement between the leaders of six political parties,” he said.
