The Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples Ognjen Tadić and the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Dr. Denis Bećirović at the First World Summit of Legislators


Oversight, or more precisely recognition of the role of legislators in monitoring and verifying the work of government and legislation, and recognizing the role of legislators in drafting and passing the laws, are the main themes of the World Summit of legislators, which will be held from 15 -17 June in Rio de Janeiro.

On, the first day of the summit, Friday, 15 June, the introductory session: "The need for dedication to the legislative process," will be held. On the second day of the conference, the plenary sessions will be: “Natural Capital: Do the nations become poorer despite the illusion of economic growth?” and "Oversight". In addition, a discussion on the Legislation Protocol is planned. For the third day of summit, the themes will be: "Acceptance of national laws" and "Legislation" with an aim to exchange the experience of the best legislative practice.

The World Summit will be attended by 66 representatives of the Parliaments worldwide with the aim of oversight, or more precisely, recognition of the role of legislators in the monitoring and verifying the work of government and legislation - recognizing the role of legislators in drafting and passing the laws. As announced at the meeting, a platform for the improvement and exchange of experiences of the best legislative practices, and a platform for the promotion of the international mechanism within the process of the recognition of the national legislation will be made. The third aim is the natural capital and the role of the parliamentarians in many countries during the adoption of the budget and financial statements. Based on these goals, the adoption of the Rio +20 Legislators’ Protocol is planned.

At this event, Ognjen Tadić, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples, and Dr. Denis Bećirović, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, will represent the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina. (end)
